Harvard Doctor Promises that a Diabetes Breakthrough is Near

Ruboxistaurin and the Promised Land

George L, King a medical doctor and professor of medicine at Harvard University says that this is an incredibly exciting time in diabetes research.

Researchers are making giant strides towards a greater understanding regarding the basic science of diabetes

Previously, King says, research focusing on a cure for type 1 diabetes focused on transplantation of cells in the pancreas to produce insulin.  But the research that King has been undertaking over the past 25 years has led to the development of a potential new drug.  The new drug that is  known  as ruboxistaurin (RBX)reduces the occurrence of diabetic vision loss and appears to be a promising treatment for diabetes-related kidney and heart disease.

Researchers are making giant strides towards a greater understanding regarding the basic science of diabetes, King insists. Many new discoveries are pointing towards new treatments and strategies that will benefit millions of people.
